Tiburon is a small town with a big case of Bay-view smugness, and honestly, it has earned it. I keep coming back for the way the Golden Gate Bridge sneaks into frame on a walk at Blackie’s Pasture, then find myself lingering over branzino at Luna Blu.

This little peninsula swings between deep history and pure indulgence, from the preserved Chinese carvings at Angel Island’s immigration station to a champagne flight at Squalo Vino. I once spent an entire afternoon at Malibu Farm and told myself it was research.

It was not. Consider this your cheat sheet to the best of Tiburon.

Go get some.

Worthwhile stop on island picnics

I almost skipped the Angel Island Immigration Museum on a sunny picnic day, and I'm so glad I didn't. The preserved Chinese carvings in the detention center walls stopped me cold, and the free exhibits tell stories that made my throat tight. The old hospital building now holds voices of new Americans, and I found myself lingering longer than my friends. It's a meaningful, moving stop that adds depth to any island trip. I left quieter than I arrived. That's a good thing.

Malibu Farm Tiburon is the kind of place where I accidentally spent three hours and didn't regret a minute. The weekend staff were friendly and attentive, even when I couldn't decide between salads. The lemon something I ordered was fresh, bright, and exactly right. Sitting there, warm sun on my face, I kept thinking: this is what a lazy waterfront afternoon should feel like. I'll be back for the relaxation.

Landmarks Art & Garden Center has this quaint blue cottage that I now think about randomly. The brick terrace is ideal for dancing, and the staff, especially Paige, were just delightful and genuinely happy to see me. The bay backdrop for weddings is absolutely stunning, though I did get a sun warning from a kind guest, so bring a hat. I loved the casual, artsy vibe mixed with the polished grounds. It's a place that feels special without being stuffy. I left with a smile and a sudden urge to plan a party there.

Finest restaurant in Tiburon
Service polished, never intrusive
Calamari wins over skeptics
Branzino cooked to perfection
Desserts worth returning for

Luna Blu might just be the finest restaurant in Tiburon, and I say that as someone who is deeply picky about Italian food. The calamari won me over immediately, and I'm usually a skeptic. The branzino was cooked to perfection, flaky and bright, and the service was polished but never intrusive, which is my favorite kind of attention. Even the desserts made me plan my next visit before I finished the first. It's the kind of meal that feels like a proper occasion, even on a random Tuesday. Go hungry. Leave happy.

I could see why people choose it for weddings; it's intimate and full of character, and the moment you ring the bell after vows feels like pure magic, even for a solo visitor like me. Old St. Hilary's Preserve gave me the kind of view that made me feel like I'd discovered a secret, even though everyone knows about it. The Bay and Bridge vistas are unmatched, and the quiet trails let me bring my dog along, which is a win. I kept stopping for photos because every angle looked different and beautiful.
